How to reach the event

The Hotel Meliá Grand Hermitage, is located in Golden Sands Resort in Varna, on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. The venue can be reach in multiple ways

By Plane

There are multiple options available for arrival by plane

1. Varna airport.

The Hotel “Melia Grand Hermitage” is situated in the Golden Sands resort which is approximately 24 km (14.9 miles) away from Varna international airport (VAR) – which has a number of flights to other European cities, as well as regular flights from Sofia. Bus 409 will take you from the airport to Golden Sands. The bus stops "Travel" and "Republika" are located within walking distance from the hotel (ap. 1 to 1.5km). 

Tickets for the city bus should be purchased at the airport and a one way ticket to Golden Sands should cost approximately 2 BG Leva. Alternatively, you can download the TicketVarna app and purchase your ticket online. A travel ticket for 60min costs 1 BG Leva. 

Private taxis and shuttles are also available.

2. Bucharest airport (Romania).

The hotel is approx. 280 km (175 miles) – a 4h-4h.15m drive from Bucharest International Airport which has flights to a number of major European cities (Please see https://www.bucharestairports.ro/en/flight-schedule/arrivals for details). Rental car/taxi/private driver VIP cars are available with advanced reservations. Links to recommended companies with discount codes will be provided at a latter time. (Note: tolls may be required on some roads).

3. Sofia airport

The international airport in the Bulgarian capital Sofia is serviced by multiple regular and budget airlines and is approximately 5h 35 min (505 km, 314 miles) by car from the hotel. Bulgaria Air also has direct short flights to Varna airport three times a day and there is a fast train from Sofia to Varna (see below).

4. Burgas Airport

Burgas is located on the Black sea, approximately 127km (79 miles) south of the hotel and the is serviced by several budget airlines. Travel to the hotel is approximately 2 h 25 min car drive along the Black Sea coast. By train 

Varna Railroad station is approx. 18km (11 miles) from the hotel and there is regular train service between Sofia and Varna Railroad station (please see https://bileti.bdz.bg/). The ticket price is between 30 and 90 leva/per person round-trip depending on the type of seating that is chosen:  regular seat or berth in a sleeper car (available only in an overnight train). Tickets can be purchased on one month prior to the desired date and the trip takes approximately 8 hours.

By Car

The various airports in Bulgaria have a number of companies for car rental including Enterprise, Sixt, Europcar, and Hertz. Please note that in order to be able to rent a car in Bulgaria, you will need an International Drivers permit – which can be obtained in advance from here https://internationaldriversassociation.com/

The local currency (BG Lev, LV) is pegged to the Euro and the exchange rate is fixed.  One euro is equal to 1.95 LV (or 1 lev and 95 stotinki)
